I'm really new to the whole Saab thing. My dad gave me a '91 900 with an automatic transmission (I have enjoyed driving it anyway) that he picked up for a reasonable amount. It has needed a bit of work. I've replaced both inner drives because I was getting a bit of a rattle in the front-end and the boots were damaged. That seemed to do the trick.
A newly developing problem that I can't pinpoint is a transmission quirk. I had a dealer do the transmission maintenance at 100,000 (shortly after I had the car) cause I was away at school and not likely to be home to a garage for a while (700+) drive. Now the transmission disengages whenever I make a left hand turn. Just briefly, but the engine revs as if I had put it in neutral, then shifts correct. No problem with right turns. Also, it is worse in cold weather, sometimes it won't let me leave the parking lot until it has warmed for a full 10 minutes (it will reverse, and pull forward to the right, but won't make the necessary left turn to leave).
Is my transmission really dying (as the mechanic claimed when I complained that it hadn't been doing this before he serviced the car). Could this be a symptom of using the wrong fluid when he replaced refilled it?
