What, exactly are the problems you are having. If it is a head gasket problem, that can be fixed much easier and cleaply. Basically, don't fix what isn't broken. A new chain can be rolled in very cheaply... It really depends on what the 'problem' is.
That said, a 2.0 block is a direct bolt in, mechanically. The electronics are another issue, though. As thor says, If you are entertaining a turbo conversion, get the whole car and swap it because the ignition is drastically different (distributor hall sensor on the 2.0T vs. crank sensed on 89+2.0NA and all 2.1L). If it is a 2.0NA from 89+, the only difference is the FI system. The 89 has LH 2.4 and your '92 has lh 2.4.2. If it were me and the car still looked great and drove well (no other problems), I'd do a turbo conversion.
