I think there may be some confusion.... A "B202" engine is not the same as a "b" engine. The "B" in B202 simply means benzine, or gasoline - it's a gasoline powered engine. The original "b engine" used in 99s and 900s was a SOHC unit with a crank-driven water pump and distributor. They used this engine up through and including 1980, in both NA and turbo forms. These engines were designated either B20 (non-turbo) or B20T (turbo). The "h engine" debuted for 1981, in both turbo (B201T) and non-turbo (B201(S)) forms. Slightly larger displacement (but still 2.0l), with a belt-driven water pump and cam-driven distributor. The B201 engine was later updated with DOHC in '84/'85 (depending on where you are), and designated the B202(S) (non-turbo) and B202T (turbo).
Your '82 will almost certainly have a B201 engine, unless someone did somethink funky along the way. This is the same SOHC engine, effectively, used from '81 until '89. The only notable difference is the relocation of the starter from the side of the block under the exhaust manifold (as on your car) to the top of the block under the intake manifold (late '84).
