have noticed when pulling a slave/master combo from a couple of 900's recently at the yard, using long 2x4 between seat and clutch pedal, pushing pedal to floor, put spacer tool in, pull 2x4 out and for some reason pressure plate fingers have opened up SO much that the throwout bearing actually gets caught in the internal radius of the fingers. had to pop a crowbar between bearing and fingers to get it released.
Perhaps you can relocate clevis pin on clutch pedal to reduce length of throw of MC shaft? or perhaps find a release bearing with a different mating surface to PP? or use a 99 MC as other poster suggested..
