Yeah, with the high temperatures brake fluid degrades. This has also been commented on in the past on this BB. I guess you can search or ask Anders. Also, it cannot circulate away from the caliper, so it cannot cool down or be diluted with good reservoir fluid easily. I know that somehow water gets into the fluid and degrades the seals, the master cylinder, the calipers, etc... Bleeding gets rid of water. Water and heat induced changes lead to mechanical changes in the fluid's properties. I am told this is significant, and I have personally seen differences in my trans am's braking with bleeding after 10 years of neglect. I can't comment on Saabs, but brakes are brakes.
Could you have a seal problem? Yeah, but brake fluid change is so easy and fast and effortless that it is worth a try. (Search this BB or Bentley's for the correct fluid type - Fluids aint all the same). You are not bleeding for bubbles, so you can gravity bleed with excellent results. If it doesn't help, I cost you 8 bucks and I hope you don't hold it against me. It just seems to me you should start simple and then move to more complex.
My 0.02. I hope you accept it in the spirit it is given.
