My '89 SPG's wipers and washers worked correctly and nicely until two weeks ago. I'm at about 140k on the car. While runnning in the intermittent speed, the damn wipers just froze in midswipe. Never saw that before. I shut them off, then restarted, everything good. EXCEPT - Wipers now park halfway up the furshlugginer windshield! However, the sweep pattern is still as before right down to the lower windshield rubber. Just park is disturbed.

Taking a visual peek at the mechanism under the cowl, I found that the short bellcrank on end of wiper motor shaft has come somewhat loose on that shaft. I think this is the core of the problem, because I believe that short arm must be rigidly fixed on wiper motor output shaft. Anyone been here before? How is that short arm fastened to the output shaft? Can it have stripped itself? I like to think I can work with this while the system is in the car, just pry the main drive arm to pass wiper off the bellcrank first, then see how to refix the crank arm to motor shaft.

Anybody got a 900 wiper mechanism on the shelf where this could be studied? All suggestions welcomed. Thanks a Bunch!!
