#2 daughter experienced the familiar transmission oil pump drive failure on her '90 900S at the same time as I had the whole drivetrain of a niece's '83 Toyota Celica GT spread around my garage floor during an engine overhaul, with that neat and functional 4-speed Aisin-Warner (shared with some Volvoes) upside down with its pan off for a thorough cleaning of internals, and I spent a lot of time meditating on whether the A-W gearset could be adapted into the B-W transaxle case with a little help from a machinist down the street who does contract work for the Ricky Rudd team, but we concluded that the cost would be higher than the price of a lot of new cars. Eventually we did find a rusted out '87 SPG to provide a drivetrain (and spring and swaybar) transplant for the 900S.
