Hello gang,
I just ordered a 3.5" hole saw from a vendor and am planning on doing a cold air intake kit with the new filter mounted in the inner feder well. Already have pre-bent tubin that I will need to cut and reweld.
So far, I will be relocating
1. APC box
2. Cruise motor
3. Ignition amplifier (later style w/ integrated heatsink)
4. Metal sensor with heavy duty "shield" around it on the engine side of the inner panel.
Anyone know what item number 4 is? It is held in place with those torx style screws but with the boss in the middle to make it more tamper proof. Either way, I have to move it. Not sure if it is some sort of fuel cutout switch in the event of an accident or something. For those who may have already performed the cold air intake mod, any recommendations on where to put this sensor?
I have industrial strength velcro that I plan on using for the APC and cruise motor. Going to mount the APC to the inside of the outer fender panel. Also plan on mounting the amplifier on the wheel well. I am sure it gets hot, meaning it will probably melt away the glue on the velcro anyway. Besides, I am sure it uses the sheetmetal to help cool itself and requires a rigid mounting scheme.
One post mentioned cutting out the running light portion of the marker lamp so as to provide better airflow. That sounded like a great idea, so I picked a lamp up on eBay for experimenting.
If anyone has pictures of the cold air intake mod that they would like to share, then please do.
Happy Memorial Day!
