That sounds like a hot setup Ed. Shocks are such an enigma. You don't don't really know what is going to happen until you put them on and take them for a ride. NTM everybody has thier own opinion of what is firm, what is soft and what is an acceptable balance of both.
My 85 feels like it rides a bit stiff in general. I put 4 new Boges on and it still rides pretty stiff considering the excessive body roll I get. Left to right, my car is a loose goose for a turbo as the early 85 spg's didn't have the sport suspension unless one was lucky enough to have the optional sport spring/shock package. All the same I think lower springs and a sway bar will limit body roll for openers. I'm still not sure about the shocks department. Ofcourse Bilsteins HD's are the way to go in most cases if building a track car but I wonder if the regular Bilstein touring shock would be a better ride in general. If dampening a bump and returning the spring are what shocks are supposed to do, you'd think that this would be an easier thing to figure out.
You mention that you compensated by lowering the tire pressure. That makes sense to me. I'd be swapping on a set of 15in Ronal Shelby-style rims with Sumitomo HTR-200's currently at 40 psi. I suppose I could decrease pressure to 32-30 if I had to but that would be a last resort considering if the car still rides too stiff after that, I might be S.O.L.
