Oil pump cover threads worn out-at the end of my rope

Friends,
I'm reaching the end of my rope with this one. I'm trying to wrap-up a Harmonic Balancer job and I'm stuck trying to repair stripped out threads on the oil pump. It's the bolt on the very bottom of the oil pump that's giving me grief. It will not take any torque at all. When I removed the bolt there was what looked like an old Helicoil attached to it. I removed the Helicoil and threaded the bolt back in. It threads in, but there is some slop to it. I purchased a new Helicoil repair kit and an angle drill and thought I'd give it a go. BUT, there is just not enough room down there for me to feel comfortable drilling into the timing chain cover. Any thoughts? Suggestions? Can I get away without that bottom bolt? If I just leave it out will an oil leak occur?
Thanks for you time and help--I appreciate it.
David
