Just fixxed mine, but there are several likely problems. Happen more when near full and after filling? More after a lot of turning? Then see fuel pump note.
#1- New gas cap! Cheap and worth a try.
Look at the fuel pump (remove silver panel to the left while trunk liner is out - after a slolomn ride); several problems here: main seal old, or not seated (that was my issue), o-rings dead on out and return lines, perhaps cracked elbow joints, then a weird one. Pull the elec. plug and look for an obvious arch and resulting hole to tank (I had this, but no hole I could see). Dealer sold me a $3 "mod" to fixed the plastic retainers that hold the lines into place (spiffy little metal bracket).
Remember to look after a hot run and above 3/4 tank.
Check fuel sending unit to the right- under the rubber cover. Loose? Another seal here.
Fuel rail and fuel filter bango seals; normally fine until you start to remove (then replace).
Last thing I would hunt for- cracked line. A big PIA, but after you trace them all, you'll have a good appreciation for your car (and likely find some spare change). Usually not "cracked," but rather worn thru- a missing guide or new object is what to look for.
The hardest check- cracked tank. The only way to really know is to drop it.
Don't give up; I had mine for years, but was just too damn lazy and busy to pull all of my audio out. Good luck.
