I have an 86 900, and I need to replace the brake pads. The rotors also either need turned or replaced. I got the old pads out easy enough, and started to push the piston back in. It went a little ways and stoped, so this is where I assume I need to "turn" the piston, then push some more. Problem is I don't have the tool, and can't seem to get anything to work. First question on that subject is:
There are four little holes on the piston, can I try and stick something in one of those and turn it? Or does something need to go into the little gap/grove?
Second, wich way does it turn? If your looking at the drivers side wheel, I was trying to turn it clock wise, or twords the drivers door. I thought that is what the manual said, but in reading up on some older posts on this board, I saw couter-clockwise. So which is it?
Last, if I want to take the rotors off, or if I end up needing to replace the calipers, either way I need to get these calipers off. So there are two bolts correct? Any trick on getting at these? Do I have to take off the brake line? I can get at the bottom bolt, but the top one I can't get at, plus there is that metal peice folded over it. Any advice I would apreciate it!
