Ok, talk me out of it... tell me what to look for that would make me want to walk away from it! What's unique to OG900s that I may not know much about? This would be my second Saab ever, my first was a new 9-3 back in '98.
The details:
'91 grey Special Edition convertible. Automatic. 165k. Supposedly two-owner, all in the same family. They want $1500 (it's at a used car store about 1.5 hours from here).
from the pictures...
-top looks good, rear window looks great
-missing the trim on both sides between the front bumper and the wheel-wells
-missing the chrome trim on the rear bumper
-dent (fairly big) in passenger's door
-crack in LH headlamp
-might be missing RH headlamp washer (hard to tell from pictures)
-paint looks real good
The pictures are pretty high quality, but it's hard to tell some things because it's sitting in a lot.
So... what are the common things to look for? I've been told about how the turbo should perform and how the automatic should be, and to look for oil in various places underneath (and to expect at least some leakage), as well as the typical 15-year-old car rust, and of course collision damage. I'm fairly good at look at that sort of thing.
However...I have very limited experience with OG900s... I've never even driven one. I've got a family member who's very familiar with them, but I've never driven his. He's going to walk me through it over the phone, but maybe some of you have other suggestions. I know it's only a $1500 car, but I don't want to buy a piece of junk! I want to be able to drive it, not have to part it out! hehe
thanks in advance
