Hey all.
Just came into posession of a small 14' sailboat, and then realized i had no way to tow the thing. So...I created the following for my '89 900T:
1 saab factory rear tow eye
1 36" length of square steel (home depot)
4 3/8 inch bolts (home depot)
1 tow hitch 1/4 inch drop extension + tow ball (Reese)
Lots of washers. and a hacksaw.
$30 and 25 minutes later, you have the light-duty tow hitch shown in the URL below.
so....thoughts? is this a really bad idea, or do you think it'll hold some weight - I figured since the tow hook was meant to support the car's weight, it might hold a trailer too.
or maybe i'm really not so smart for trying this. could be either! that's why i'm asking your opinions!
oh, and while i'm at it - does anyone know how to wire a car to a trailer? i'm really lost. I have a 4-pin harness, but i read that i may need a converter, because of the different tail light and turn signal usage?
thanks again. sorry for the length!
