Radio swap project,halfway there[long]

Hi all,
I am putting a Clarion/SAAB had unit and CD player from a 91 SPG into a 93 900s. I have half success: radio and CD player work fine - I just plugged harnesses together, nothing more. But:
1. I am only getting sound from the front speakers
2. Fader and balance controls are reversed
3. I have a cable from the dash, a round 6-pin, that has no place to connect on the head unit.
It appears that cable is for an amp. I looked under the rear seat, under the ABS controller, and yep! There is a box with fins on the sides that I presume is the amp (really hard to see under there). Bentley indicates the amp powers the rear speakers...how do I get those speakers going? How do I flip-flop fader and balance? What do I do with that 6-pin lead that has nowhere to hook up?
Thanks!!
