Some care went into the following comments to avoid committing the tort of libel. While these comments may appear less than flattering to Motorwerks of Barrington, IL, keep in mind that I am merely stating my observations below.
(and I have a pic in case anyone is interested http://www.geocities.com/pjcesarz/saab.html)
Background: Saab 900 turbo convertible - 1988
Question: Is there any possible relationship between having a standard oil change service and the "Turbo/APC" dial-indicator subsequently failing to work?
Details: After having a std. oil change at Barrington Motorwerks, this indicator fails to move, irregardless of whether the car is on or off. Why might I make the assumption that the service department is responsible?
Because they left a sponge in the patient! (By the way, I'll take the highest bidder for that tool used to remove the oil can, which was left on top of my engine. I discovered it the next morning when I opened the hood of the car.)
So, does this evidence of "apparent" (watch out for libel here) shoddy workmanship (sometimes referred to as negligence) change anyone's answer? Do you suppose that a service person disconnected, bumped, or broke the cable that goes to the "Turbo/APC" indicator? Is it even near the area they might be working when performing an oil change?
Could be a coincidence, right? Either way, I'd love to know how any of you would handle this situation. And of course, I am in the market for a new place to take my Saab in the vicinity of Arlington Heights, IL.
Best regards...Pete.
