off with out you knowing it. My gut tells me it's your halls wire/cable. I just changed mine out just because! PITA too!! I don't have a hard/good reason for saying that. It's just my gut feeling. The alt ground cable sounds like a better culpret. I know I changed out my alt and forgot that wire and had a simaler issue. Just not the 3500rpm problem. But it was acting real funny.<--(injectors acting up) The last thing you want to hear is that the old 85's (like mine too) have/had bad wiring. But I have to keep that in mind. I will say that the only place I have bad wires are when the wire is in open air. Where water and antifreeze get into the wire loom. Ok reason for saying this. You might want to look over the wires coming from the ECU on the Just under the cabin intake air duck. I think the PS fluid got to some of mine, and I had to replace some of them.
