Christian,
Do you hear a "pssssh" sound as the distribution knob is turned from off to floor, vent ( <> ), etc.? If there is no rushing of air sound AT THE SWITCH, then I'd suspect the air distribution switch's hose gang might have become unplugged. But you'd probably hear a hiss from right near the switch in that case.
Or, the vacuum line running from the vacuum reservoir to the dash air distribution switch has fallen off the reservoir or is cracked/split and heavily leaking vacuum. Find the vacuum reservoir. It's a white, ribbed plastic canister--a little smaller than the size of a Big Gulp/32 oz. gas station drink cup--located on the passenger's side in the engine compartment, underneath the power steering fluid reservoir on 16V cars. I took a quick look at your previous posts and I see you have an '87 16V car, right? And you had replaced some vacuum lines on the engine, so maybe this one came loose?
I'd try to check the vacuum lines at the white vacuum canister because a vacuum leak there might be muffled enough when you're in the car's cabin to not be heard. And it certainly would be drowned out by a radio, road noise, etc.
Also, the vacuum canister also has a check valve built into it (about as big as two of the one-gallon milk jug screw-on caps, stacked together) to allow the canister to retain vacuum when your Turbo kicks in an pressurizes the intake manifold (a situation which results in no vacuum supply to the canister). This allows vacuum-operated accessories (dash vents & cabin air recirculation flap) to operate during hard acceleration/boost. If the check valve is bad, you would have little vacuum reserve or none at all. Good news is you can get a cheap check valve and install it upstream (engine side) of the vacuum canister. But if this check valve was the only thing wrong, you'd have a/c air coming out the dash vents ONLY during idle and deceleration (when engine vacuum is strongest).
My best guess is the vacuum line from canister to dash switch is cracked/slipped off.
Hope this helps!
