Sally,
Hope all's well with you and your 900!
We have found that the cross drilled rotors are a best option for performance applications and will allow for pad outgassing to be vented providing an improvement in braking ability. Wet weather braking is also vastly improved as any water is routed out of the drill points.
Make certain that you use a high quality/high nickel rotor which will protect against thermal expansion cracks between drill points. A high nickel rotor will allow the manufacturer to warranty the rotor against cracking for a lifetime (as we do) and they will have much longer service life than lower nickel alloy rotors.
Slotting will provide similar advantages to drilling but we find a substantial reduction in pad service life.
A pad upgrade will provide a more substantial improvement to stopping performance over nearly any other direct replacement braking enhancement.
Best of luck and regards,
GSK at SWEDISH DYNAMICS,INC.
