Gas mileage when enjoying boosting into the red? Posted by Devin [Email] (#2469) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Devin) on Mon, 15 Aug 2005 22:19:53 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
O.K. I'm not saying I drive like a teenager in a four-cylinder Civic with a wing on the back . . . but I drive aggressively around town and on backroads and enjoy the turbo and the five speed. In the last 3000 miles I've done the following:
Cap, rotor and plugs
fuel filter
O2 sensor
cleaned K&N
changed oil
installed new AIC valve that I bought right before I wrecked my 89 900S
Great idle, no exhaust leaks or vacuum leaks.
I get 20-21 mpg consistently, whether in town, on country roads or on the highway where I drive 75-85 mostly. HOWEVER, even when I slow down and drive like my mom I don't see a significant change. Ideas?
My car's a 92' 900 Turbo with a 5 speed and 135K on the clock. My friend's got an 88' SPG with similar mileage and he swears he gets 30 mpg. I think he's forgotten how big the gas tank is. He drives like a bigger jack-##$ than I do.
I don't want to drive a Mercedes diesel running on fryer grease if I don't have to . . .
thanks,
Devin
