While the battery *may* be part of the problem, I highly doubt it is the main issue here. If you have a meter, I would disconnect the small spade terminal off the starter solenoid and put hot lead of the meter on the wire and the ground lead of the meter to ground. While watching the meter, turn the starter switch to the start position. You should get at least 12 volts for a reading. If you do, it's the starter and/or solenoid that is causing the problem. If it is less, like 10 volts or below, then you have a problem with the battery, the ground cables, or the alternator. I'm going to guess your starter/solenoid is going out.
