an inner driver is the protruding metal cup just outside the transmission which connects to the axles, and like the CV joint is covered by a rubber boot. It is designed to allow the drive axles to flex inward and out as you drive. There is a three pronged bearing inside which makes contact with the inside surface of the inner driver cup. That bearing surface wears down over time, especially if the grease dries up or escapes through a tear in the rubber boot. The wear pattern created on the inner driver surfaces causes vibration while accelerating. Replacing them is not an easy chore for the beginner.
