Mine sounded just like coarse knobby tires; reminded me of a jeep with big mud tires. In fact, it happened the same time I got new blizzak snow tires. And it DIDN'T change very much when I steered around curves. I spent all that winter bitching about how noisy the tires were. Then I put the summer tires back on & the noise didn't go away...
