As others have said, the seat heater is only on when the key is on.

In my experience, 95.723% (give or take) of all 'battery drain' problems aren't battery drain problems. They are either a bad charging system, or an old battery. Of the 5.277% that are drains, most are due to a trunk light stuck on. Occasionally, very occasionally, there is an excessive drain due to a component failure in the radio, or a shorted wire. But that happens so infrequently as to be third on the list.

First, batteries die over time. The older they get, the harder it is to hold charge. Second, once a battery is discharged, even once, it looses a large amount of it's capacity. If it's old, it may not have much left to lose. So if you have a 4 or 5 year old battery, chances are it may be ready to give up the ghost. Let it sit for a few days and it completely discharges, and it's now pretty close to shot. If you have a charging problem, that will also kill the battery, because if it isn't being recharged it will die (and lose capacity).

How much to pay for a battery? Depends. How long are you planning on keeping the car, how much money do you have, and how adverse are you to hassle? If you're getting rid of the car in a year, go cheap. If you don't have much money, get a good one. Why? Because one good one is cheaper than two cheap ones. Hassle adverse? How do you feel about going out to your car and finding it won't start? (usually in the dark and wet). If it's no big deal, go cheap. But if you save $20 on a battery, how will you feel about that $20 when the car won't start?

I don't know about Optima batteries. I've used the standard Die Hards for years. I've also had good luck with Interstate. It's not hard to turn a 4-cylinder engine over, so ultimate total cold cranking amps isn't critical. Assume a battery is a consumable, and assume the life is pretty darn close to the warranty.
