I'm afraid the connection style is vastly different from 86-87-88 with very limited compatibility. For instance, the '87 radio I had wouldn't work with an '88 base car. For example, some cars had all rectangular connectors (base '88), some cars had one or two rectangular plugs and a round multi-pin, and some (donor '87 S) had all round multi-pin connectors. I wish it was that easy. If it was, my convertible would have an equalizer and a CD player sometime six months ago.
If your two-wire connector is either red and green or both wires are green, it's a mixed positive supply and power antenna "demand" circuit.
I hate "hack job" radios.
That photo is from the audio equipment manual- maybe does your donor 9000 still have the audio book in it, probably soaked on the rear floor somewhere?
Also be sure all the connections (especially the two-prong) at the power antenna in the trunk are good. Oh, wait, no, no. Those don't matter.
One of my junkyard goodies was a fixed-mast antenna from an '85. If you find one, get it. My power antenna circuit is unplugged. The antenna lead is connected to the fixed mast, but there's no need for the other one anymore.
I wish I could give you a better idea what that does. Unfortunately, I'm out of ideas but I can tell you next weekend when the white car comes back with me.
