I hope you got the answer to your question. I'll add that there are three possibilities: the master cylinder seals are shot, the slave cylinder near the cluth is shot, or the rubber section on the line connected to the slave cylinder has lost it's rigidity. If it's the slave cylinder seals, you'll find evidence of clutch fluid dripping just under the clutch area. What happens with the rubber section on the connection line is it loses it's rigidity and flexes outward as the pedal is pressed instead of sending the pressure to the clutch mechanism. I had that happen to me years ago. I first noticed it when the outdoor temps were very warm and I was driving in start stop city traffic. The high heat obviously contributed to it's demise. To be able to drive when it began to go bad, I'd have to let the engine cool. I replaced it right away.
