The big wire going to the starter carries battery voltage so be careful not to short it to ground. Better yet, disconnect the battery before messing with it.
The ground wire is short, it goes from one of the alternator case bolts right over to a mounting bolt against the engine block. Feel free to replace it with a bigger wire, if it looks suspicious. Sometimes these break inside the insulation from the vibration.
The little one with a spade connector should go into the wiring harness. This one comes from the battery warning lamp in the instrument cluster. This one has to be connected or the alternator won't work. The test is checking for the lamp to be on when you turn the key ON but don't start the engine.
