In my opinion if you are going to mount them anyway, atleast put the worst pair on the rear end. If you have a blow out, your risk is minimized. If you blow a tire on the front and bust a rim, you're SOL. Happened to me. Luckily I had a 5th matching rim for replacement.

-You could also get away w/ a pair of better condition or ideally new "otherbrand" snows for the front and put the two best Pirelli's on the rear.

Ultimately, I don't think it is critical if you didn't have a matched set of four snow tires. Matched pairs are fine. Many people get studs on the the fronts only which changes everything anyway. If your doing mostly around town driving anyway, I can't see it being a huge deal. Better off with a decent set of mismatched pairs that risking a potential blowout in an ice storm somewhere on I-90.
