I did mine last year. The top nuts came right out after an overnight soaking. Remove the battery to give yourself room to work. The bolts at the Cat were tougher. But because the downpipe was rusty I cracked it off and then took the exhaust off of the hangers and swung the Cat (and the attached downpipe flange) out from under the car to give myself more room for leverage.
It was tough to get the studs out of the Cat flange. Torched one and had to drill out two. There might be a better way. I'm not sure.
The clamp that holds the pipe to the tranny case snapped when I was trying to remove it. I bought a muffler clamp, bent it open a bit, and used an extra set of nuts and it worked fine.
Good luck!
