KISS rule violation duly noted Posted by Arabiflora [Email] (#1129) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Arabiflora) on Sat, 7 Jan 2006 23:19:15 In Reply to: Shock replacement help requested, Arabiflora [Profile/Gallery] , Fri, 6 Jan 2006 18:35:38 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
In followup and confession: I exchanged KYB rear shocks for proper fronts. I spent the afternoon changing ball joints and outer tie rod end on pass side, installed shock. Lifted tire to put back on in anticipation of celebratory test drive, took a steel belted wire into the palm of my hand.
KISS: Keep It Simple, Stupid!
Tires on the right side are shot, both front and back, both with wear down to the wires on the inside edge. Front right tire seems to have a flat spot that is especially worn. Swapped left rear (good) for right front (bad), steering waddle accordingly moved from passenger's front to driver's rear.
Not that the front suspension ddin't need a little R&R and TLC, and flaws there likely contributed to tire wear, but DAMN I wish I had looked at the obvious culprit first.
A cautionary tale, sadly posted. New rubber on Monday, hopefully I will be able to report a happily ever after.
