Bought three years ago with 180K, the car was "rescued" from a charity donation lot by Chip Lamb of West of Sweden. I'll assume the base car was close to free, but then Chip went from stem to stern, replacing hoses, shocks, brakes, etc. Price out the door was $4K (Yikes!!!) but in fairness, almost $1K was "wasted" on headliner and sunroof cables.
Since then the car has been reliable enough Nothing that old is maintenance proof, but the failures have all been regular maintenance type things (brake master cylinder, one caliper, wheel bearhing, exhaust, battery, tires). Car is strong, powerful, fun to drive.
Don't be afraid of the mileage. What you need to do is have the big things (engine, transmission, body, ABS) thoroughly checked by someone who knows them.
