Earle, before you go at the central locking control you should check the wiring at the drivers door. On '86 cars in particular you will often find the wires and connector in the pocket of the A-pillar, in front of the door (lift the hood), are in bad shape. Cut the wire tie and lift the bundle of wires up and out and find the 3 pole connector. That's the central locking. (There are also a 2 pole and 4 pole connector for the window and mirror respectively). Pull the connector apart and jump from the pin of the brown wire to one of the other pins. If nothing then jump brown to the remaining pin. If that causes the passenger door and trunk to lock and unlock then the problem is wiring in the driver's door or the switch inside the drivers door.
