About 70% done with the suspension redo on my 85 turbo. Replaced springs out back with B+Gs. Had new bushings ready to go in the panhard rod but they were as good as new and the replacements I got were not the right ones anyway. Found I need new rear sway bar bushings so I get to revisit that.
Got most of the way done with the front drivers side. I only had the crappy screw type spring compressors and as you guys know the bolts are too long. Went to home depot and got a peice of threaded rod and four nuts and made shorter spring compressor bolts which worked out really well. Before anyone tries this at home, I have a big ass vice that I was able to put the spring in once I had it removedand get one compressor off and then install the longer rod and capture the spring while I took the other compressor off.
What I was worried about was getting the new spring in but the B+G is so much shorter in free length that I didn't need to use the compressor at all.
Installed new hubs with bearings, ball joints, rotor, urethane sway bar bushings, rebuilding the caliper in a few minutes but thought I'd share.
I have to admit I was pretty intimidated before I started but its been a piece of cake so far with no bad suprises besides the rear sway bar bushings.
