I'm a little closer, but still north of Albany, NY. I've done water pumps before; the clutch I've only done once, but the heat shield is best done with two people. My '92S is in need of a heat shield as well.
Big important question: do your clutch hydraulics still work, or has the slave completely failed?
Is the water pump making noise (a low rumbling noise) or is it leaking so much the car cannot be driven?
The heat shield you can defer. Or, for a quick fix, you can usually pop-rivet some filler metal in place until you can get a replacement.
You remind me of my own situation a year ago when the clutch on my '92 let go. I had to ride my bike to work a few times, but everything worked out (I'm a healthy cyclist). Take it a day at a time and you'll get through it.
