Hello all, I am trying to evaluate my old 85 SPG and thought that some of you might have some suggestions. I've driven this car for 12 year but I'm not sure if I should part it out or sell as a whole. I got tired of the wiring harness issues and scored a 90 spg as a replacement so I'm pretty much onto a new direction. I'll probably end up posting in the Classified section but would like to take the most effective approach.
Here are some basics.
The bad:
-minor lip rust at rr, fr and fl arches, hatch surface rust, a few floor holes and some door rust.
-Incas w/ Nordfrost II's have good tread for a few more seasons but has curb rash.
-AC disconnected.
-cruise not working,
-Odometer stoppage
-harness is a gooey mess.
-steering rack shot,
-needs a muffler. (has an MSS)
The good:
-Always maintained by a Saabtech so there are no oddities.
-runs like champ minus wiring issues.
-3bar fpr
-88 H20 cooled motor + turbo with recent head gasket.
-newer downpipe and straigth pipe.
-newer radiator
-rebuilt alternator.
-has had CV joints + wheel bearings replaced.
-30K on rebuilt trans w/ redline MTL. Needs reverse adjustment but shifts lovely.
-Has a complete skirt set.
-heater core and valve good.
-New sachs/boge shocks
-recent rear brakes+ rotor,
-OEM Tan leather seats are in VG condition with the passenger side being near mint. (I'm thinking about possibly selling these separately. Back seat not so good.
As a driver, the car isn't that bad but I wouldn't want to pass it onto a young driver unless I knew he/she was going to fix it up which would cost a few K unless they are handy or have mechanical ability and garage resources.
Regards, Steve.
