Need advice, about person who wants to buy my saab Posted by Ryan [Email] (#2222) [Profile/Gallery] (more from Ryan) on Tue, 6 Jun 2006 08:36:13 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Hi everyone,
I am the one selling the 85 saab here in Minnesota. I have gotten all the standard scam emails. I did receive an email from someone in Thunder Bay Canada. Person has a yahoo email account. Anyway, they wanted to pay with a certified check or money order, I told them cash only. They seem really interested in the car and I agreed to hold off selling the car a few days if he put a paypal deposit down. I just received $100 into my paypal account. How safe is paypal anyone know?
I really want to believe the person is legit, but they just seem so excited about buying the car and they haven't seen it in person nor driven it. They seem to be pushing the certified check and ignoring my response of cash only. This second email asked again about checks and ignored my request for cash. My thoughts are if he can get a money order or certified check he can get cash.
"Ok, thank you for clarifying. Is there anyway I can send a deposit to ensure that I don't drive down there to see that you have already sold it. Maybe a bank money order through Xpresspost, or a Paypal direct deposit? Also how much would be acceptable as a deposit? Either of those would arrive before we do to take a look. About payment, would you accpet the full amount in form of a certified check or money order instead of cash? If so, I could head out as soon as early wed and arrive there same day to pick it up."
this response I received earlier. It makes me really nervous. I don't want the person to drive down for nothing but I will not accept anything but cash. I just sent them an email stating so. I gave the person my cell number but have yet to receive a call from him at all.
what do others think about this? does it seem fishy? I am unsure about what to do because i did put my car on ebay this week as a week or two had gone by when I last heard from him. I know i can end the auction early, all I want to do is have the car go to someone who will treat it well and don't want to get burned.
