Thanks so much for taking the time to write such a thorough response. I really appreciate it.

I hate to ask what is probably a stupid question, but...here goes:

When you say this...

If no gas, I would apply a vacuum to the hose(I just give it a quick suck). If it holds a vacuum, the fuel pressure regulator is OK.

...are you talking about a regular vacuum? I mean...ahem...at the risk of eliciting hearty laughter all over the 900 board...you don't mean to suggest a vacuum cleaner hose, right? Are you referring to some sort of mechanic's vacuum? I suspect you are, but am willing to subject myself to the laughter in case this is something I can do myself. I don't have any sort of mechanic's vacuum. Just a very nice bright yellow tool box with my tools for my 9000 in it. :)
