If you have three spade terminals on the top of the sender, you have the earlier version. If you have a flat plug (three wires across) type, you have the later version.

Externally, except for the wiring plug, they are the same. Internally they are different. I've been using the earlier style in my '90 for almost a year with no issues. I just changed the wiring plug.
