My driver's side window was very slow and I recently took the door panel off , cleaned and greased the window gear and track.... works fine now ( still a split second slower than the passenger side but it always was, even when new ). I'd tried that before replacing the motor.
Be sure and replace the moisture barrier before replacing the door panel.
Don't have a clue about the switches/light problem except maybe it has something to do with the lights in the switches. There's a ground connection by the handbrake for the switch lights and one behind the instrument panel for the rheostat. Maybe the ground by the brake got jostled and is shorting back to the rheostat.
