The advice from Sanden (and a couple other places) is actually NOT to clean the inside of the system. The current wisdom, apparently, is that the old oil gets into the hoses and helps prevent refrigerant from seeping through. Sanden recommends removing the compressors and "manually" draining it, but then just putting it all back together and drawing vacuum on it. As I have two cars to do now - and probably more in the future - I'm gonna go ahead and buy one of the $100 pumps off ebay so I can do it myself.
I was mostly curious about this specific oil product because it claims to be compatible with R134 and mineral oil, which would be an advantage for the life expectancy of the compressor.
I had originally planned on just using Freeze12, but I am not gonna have this car forever, and I don't want to stick the next owner with some oddball refrigerant they can't service. I've also looked into R406A - which someone recommended to me - but there isn't much info on it out there. I need to check its EPA certification, too.
Anyway, I'm still leaning towards R134a for a number of reasons... I really was just curious about the oil's performance...
