having just re-habed my 87 turbo a/c it wasnt a bad job, the compressors on them seem almost bombproof.first thing is put the belt back on,and replace the dryer, then check it for leaks, i put 150 psi into the system and let it sit for a while to see if it loses pressure.if it passes that test remove the old fill valves on the high and low pressure lines and put the R134 fittings in thier place. You then need to pull all the air from the system to a vaccuum,i put a small amount of refridgerant oil in with a leak detector dye in the system followed by 32 ozs. of R134 freon.DO NOT put in the amount of freon it says on the compressor, as R134 and R12 have different densities.i strongly suggest u have some of this work done by a professional with a/c experience, as some of the equipment needed will not be available to the average do it yourselfer, also, it can be hazardous if not done correctly.
