In response, I used the old aperture ring from the old pulley - it was in good shape.
Both the alternator lower bolt and tensioner arm bushings were replaced.
I did notice that it looks like, in comparison with my '90 900, that I put one of the two lower alternator mounting bolt bushings in backwards. This might allow the alternator to move toward the front of the car, thereby reducing the fin clearance with the lower mount of the tensioner arm. I will inspect more closely tonight and also do the mirror alternator fins check.
Will also take the alternator belts off and run the engine to see if the noise goes away. If it's the crank pulley or hall timing sensor, the noise would still be there even without the belts, right?
As for the frequency of the noise, it isn't there at idle...it IS under acceleration and in 2nd, 3rd and 4th gear, but less to not at all in 5th gear.
THanks!
