...I went 205, 50, 16, in my convertible and I scraped like a mother until I put air bags in the rear springs. Convertible fenders are different that coupe and sedan fenders, limiting options even more. I would go no wider than 195, and I think 17 inch rims will lead to an almost constant flurry of flat tires from sidewall pinching.
Others may disagree, but from my experience, 205's do not mix well with convertibes. The only other option would be to re-allign the rear tire in the fender by cutting and welding several suspension cuts. Peope do this, but it is not simple. To gain access, the gas tank needs to be dropped for one side.
