Something is definetly holding it in that area. However, the speaker grill is really only accessible from behind the pane (I tried and ripped my interior cloth.)It's pretty much flush with the panel. I tried removing the seat belt shoulder mount, but it too is attached to something in that area.

I'm not sure if later years were modified, but for instance: The rear seat does not come out by 4 bolts. Instead it is held in with clips. One posting said that you had to sit in the car and lift like an olympic weight lifter. He was right! I thought I was going to break the seat before it popped lose. It took a lot of force, and I was afraid that I was going to snap the seat!

That's why I've turned to the 10000 minds of the board for help. Thanks for the suggestions. Do you have any others?
