a tranny is about 100 lbs but fairly cumbersome to grip unless you have two people.
an engine alone is i believe 250 lbs plus depending on what's attached. if you strip off things like exhaust manifold and related stuff, alternator etc then with a dolly and strong guys you could lift it into a vehicle.
transplanting a good engine is far smarter than attempting a rebuild unless you are well connected with quality machinists, have access to parts, etc. the bottom ends of these engines go forever if not abused too much. Assuming they arent already renewed you may wanna put the engine on a stand or bench and replace timing chain, guides, seals etc while they are accessible. if the engine is fairly high mileage you could also inspect 1 or 2 main bearings for wear.
