if he's taking the timing cover off to reseal the engine, i'd recommend using the endless chain (eEuro has them) and just turn the camshafts a bit as per Townsend to get the sprocket timing marks lined up.
i bought the chain length and a machinist friend assembled it on a bench with a press, etc and i wasnt interested in buying the tools to clamp the master links onto the chain, especially when i saw how he did the chain on the bench. how you'd punch the rivet to seal the master link on with the chain in mid air i cant imagine.
