hydraulic fluid is shared but there are separate master cylinders for the clutch and brake. Heating the brake fluid in the wheel calipers doesn't transmit significant heat up the line to the brake master cylinder and brake fluid reservoir above the brake master cylinder.
Most likely the clutch master and clutch slave have never been bled or flushed since the car was new (or the last clutch replaced).
I would bleed the clutch slave (might as well do the wheels and brake master as well, use ATE Blue) and then try again.
