I just got my '88 Turbo on the road after a bunch of suspension and motor mount work. It started right up, I did a bunch of errands, then my wife decided that we needed to go to a party on the other side of town. I said I'd go if we could drive the Saab. She was a little skeptical, but it drove over there great. But of course when we left the party it cranked well, but wouldn't start. We got to ride in a tow truck back home. Today I checked the spark - to do that I pulled a plug and held it (with wire connected of course, and with an insulated pair of pliers) against the engine while my wife (who is still talking to me oddly enough) cranked. I got a spark. I checked that the fuel pump was running by jumping fuses 27 and 30. I could hear it running. Could I be out of gas? Not according to the fuel gage, but I put in about 4 gallons and the car started up after a few seconds. No way! Problem is, I took it to the gas station and it would only take another 5 gallons, so 9 gallons altogether, in a 16 gallon tank, so I wasn't out of fuel. Is that indicative of a weak fuel pump? Sorry for the long message.
