sometimes is the pump, or a line between the two. We had a line loosen up because one of the bolts on the PS pump backed out and departed controlled flight... apparently the additional vibration was enough to shake and bake the line so that the fitting backed off... didn't know that the one bolt was gone, and in fact the other was loose, so I guess all in all it was a good thing. got a new bolt, cleaned everyone up, torqued them in, tighten the fitting and we were good to go (on that 900)!

so, get your flashlight and lean over the passenger fender and look down between the firewall the the "front" of the engine (the part where the belts are is the front - and it's not even a british car with other goofy stuff in/on it!) and follow the lines and see if you can tell if the leak is where they plug into the rack.

You didn't say where under the car the leak was. If at the left or right wheel it's most likely the rack, the seals let go and with a huge puddle like that addiing a stop leak like lucas most likely is too late.

Before I got a power fluid sucker thingie I just used an old turkey baster, but put a zip tie on the part where the bulb covers the plastic end to help keep it from slipping off, and sucked out as much of the PS fluid as I could, and then topped off with new. Did this every day for a little over a week and eventually had clear clean fluid. put some lucas stop leak in it and kept adding PS fluid. it got better to the point of being ok for about a year, then it dumped everything overnight again. Put in a rebuild rack. difficult but boy was I happy with the results.
