Don't know what kind of V reg you bought since I have not seen a Bosch one with brush holding kit.
I would only install a Bosch one.
With the brushes extended, you need to use a kind of twisting motion to get the brushes/V reg in and compressed at the same time.
Care is of great importance since it is possible to break off the brushes (especially if they are already compromised by a hole for the pins).
The next fun part is to hold the V reg and brushes pushed in with one hand and at the same time try to insert and get one of the screws threaded.
It's possible but not overly easy.
If it would be possible to pull the pin out afterward, I guess that would be good, but I don't think it is.
